• "I received my Digital Link III today and have not put it through the paces yet, but I will immediately say this is really a very elegant looking piece of equipment. The person that said the picture does not do the unit justice is absolutely on target. The design of the DLIII is completely different from my Ultra Link II which also died recently, but it has a very solid feel, good case design, good lines, and in this user's opinion probably does indeed surpass the Ultra Link II sonically, and that's hard for me to say! All the connection points on the back of the unit are so heavy and solid, the DAC feels like a 14 X 8 inch BRICK! Oh, one thing no one has mentioned, the paint has a very subtitle "sparkle" very nice, just some icing on this cake. I think this is certainly a design decision of targeting the essentials and dispensing with optional fluff, and PS Audio really did pull it off in a very attractive package."

The unit is much more substantial and heavy-duty than the pictures on the website make it look. • "I just bought from Audio Advisor a new PS Audio DACIII to replace an aging Theta Pro-Prime DAC I had for many years. The DACIII is a wonderful unit. Compared to the Theta, it has a more refined sound. There is better low level detail, better micro-dynamics, slightly better timbres on acoustical instruments and a less forward sound presentation, which allows for greater dynamic contrast between soft and loud passages when the music calls for it. I am going to miss the fabled Theta bass however. I have to admit that the Pro-Prime had a bit too much bass present all the time to begin with. The DACIII can produce bass as taut and deep as the Theta (if not more so), but again, only as the music demands it. The Audio Advisor has a return policy if you are not happy with the DACIII (give it a day or two to warm up) but I doubt you want to part with it."

• "last month, I received my PS Audio Digital III DAC and the difference between the stock analogs of the SB3 and the analog outs of the DAC is very very apparent. To me, the difference is night and day. Even non-audiophile friends can easily tell the difference, it's THAT apparent! The difference to me lies mostly in the vocal image and the transient dynamics. The vocal image with the PS Audio DAC is a lot more solid and lot more 3D, very palpable depending on the music/software and it has this "projecting at you" quality through my Martin Logan Summits. The image has less "fuzz"..... more concentrated focus on the vocals is what I get with the PS Audio DAC III. Also, because the vocals are improved, I find that there is better separation between all instruments being imaged by my speaker. There is blackness between what used to be an amalgam of instruments! Lastly, I think that the mosfet Class A discrete output stage of the DAC III really helps with transient dynamics! There is more speed and more quickness to my music! More PRaT and more musicality, overall. I will not hesitate to recommend this DAC.... paired with the SB3, you cannot go wrong! "
