The KMAL machine did resemble a big record player, although its phalanx of clear plastic tubes gave it a more purposeful and altogether damper appearance. Here's how it worked: The dirty record was placed on a rubber-matted platter—no surprises so far—and spun at a fairly high speed. Then a built-in record brush with nylon bristles was pivoted away from its resting place and lowered onto the spinning vinyl. The push of a button activated a hidden pump, and soon it was apparent that the brush was wired for wetness: the wash cycle had begun. and what appeared to be a longer-than-average tonearm was lowered to the record but on the far side of the label, beginning at the lead-out rather than the lead-in groove. Another button was pushed, and the arm began to suck up all of the liquid, drawing it in through a small opening at its far end. The arm progressed slowly across the record though not as slowly as if it were actually playing the record leaving in its wake a remarkably dry and apparently clean surface.There's one other bit worth mentioning: A short length of sewing thread rode between the surface of the record and the mouth of the vacuum device. On closer examination, this turned out to be not a short length of thread but in fact a very long length of thread, fed from a spool at one end, running under the tip of the arm, and going back through another tube toward wherever it was the spent fluid ended its days. It was also apparent that the thread was continuously played out and renewed by some unseen mechanism....

beschouwd als de referentie in het wassen van vinylcollecties. Alle grote
archieven, radiostations en mediatheken wereldwijd maakten of maken nog
steeds gebruik van een Keith Monks om hun platen te wassen.
Jonathan Monks, de opvolger van Keith heeft een nieuwe productie faciliteit
in gebruik genomen in Engeland, waar de nieuwe Keith Monks RCM’s
met de hand gebouwd worden, volgens de strengste kwaliteitsnormen.
Er worden ondermeer nieuwe, krachtiger en geruislozer vacuümpompen
gebruikt waardoor uw dierbare vinyl collectie nog beter gereinigd kan
worden. Het gamma wordt in de toekomst nog verder uitgebreid, momenteel
is de Keith Monks RCM MKII leverbaar in Navy Blue, Wit en English Oak.
Er zijn 3 typen Record Cleaning Machines:
Keith Monks RCM Mk.II - 'Entry level' heeft een 12" manuele borster,
borsterlhouder en een fles voor vloeistof. Het apparaat is te verkrijgen
in de kleuren 'Classic White' of 'Royal Navy Blue'.
Keith Monks RCM Mk.II 'The Classic' heeft een Deck-mounted enkelvoudig
borster systeem voor platen tot 12" met ingebouwd vloeistof distributiesysteem,
wordt geleverd met bijpassend deksel. Te verkrijgen in de kleuren: 'Classic
White' of 'Royal Navy Blue', en de kleur premium 'English Oak'.
Keith Monks RCM Mk.II 'The Archivist' heeft een tweevoudig borstelsysteem
voor platen tot 16" met ingebouwd dubbel vloeistof distributiesysteem,
wordt geleverd met speciale afzuig nozzles voor vinyl en shellac platen.
Leverbaar in de kleuren 'Classic White' of 'Royal Navy Blue' en premium 'English Oak'
Alle RCM's worden geleverd met bijpassende cover.
Naast de Raven draaitafels van TW-Acustic, de Raven AC en de Raven One kan Aspera Audio u nu ook een perfecte, highend platenwasmachine leveren.
